FSS Program

Public Housing FSS

THA’s Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency Program provides coordination and access to job training and other services for residents of public housing who are making an effort to become self-sufficient.  Participants are required to seek and maintain employment or attend school or job training.  As participants increase their earned income, HUD matches the rent increase with money in an escrow account which is then awarded to participants who successfully complete the program.  Escrow monies are often used as a down payment on a home; however additional activities are also eligible.  For more details contact THA’s Public Housing FSS Coordinator, Mrs. Jackie Chaisson, at (205) 758-6619 Ext. 117 or visit the HUD website.
